Yachtmaster Examination Preparation Course

Yachtmaster Prep Course - This is a five day course that prepares the candidate to be examined by an independent RYA examiner directly following the course.

The Yachtmaster Preparation week provides coaching to students preparing to to take a practical exam for one of the RYA certificates of competence including RYA Yachtmaster Coastal or RYA Yachtmaster Offshore. This coaching is delivered by instructors holding Yachtmaster Instructor and higher. Student to instructor ratio is maintained at 3:1 to maximize individual coaching time.

The course is a mix of vessel familiarization, an opportunity for the student to explore the exam area, and to brush up on the candidates skills and knowledge. Each examination has a syllabus, which can be found in the Yachtmaster Scheme Logbook (G158).

The candidate is taken through as much of the exam syllabus as possible, to find weak theory and skills and coach the student to meet the standard. In short this course objective is to polish skills that may be a rusty or absent and refreshing subjects that have found their way into the dark corners of the student's mind.

The course will consist of plenty of boat handling, pilotage and theory checks throughout identifying weaknesses to the student and instructor so that they can focus their efforts in preparing for the formal exam.

Although there is no guarantee of success at the formal exam, it does improve chances of success significantly by carefully looking at the student's current skill-set and helping them improve.

We are offering Yachtmaster Prep/Exams in May and or June 2023

• Cost is CAD $2500 plus 15% HST.

• Cost of the Examination is paid directly to RYA and is currently £231 (payable by credit card at the time of examination).
